Now that I have convictions, I have no companions. For the life of me, I cannot decide whose company is the loneliest.

Mitchell Plumlee: I grew up playing drums in rock bands and night clubs, worked as a reporter and now write for myself. I've had to deal with hearing and vision disabilities for the past several years. Hopefully, my thoughts recorded in this blog about life's unexpected changes will inspire others. I found out while working as a reporter that I'm losing my eyesight to low-tension glaucoma, which means the disease is destroying my optic nerve in the same way it takes one's vision if their eye pressure is unusally high. My eye pressure is low. I take many eye drops daily and have had several radical surgeries to keep my eye pressure abnormally low; theoretically to slow the progression of the blindness. And for several years, I've also suffered progressive hearing loss supposedly caused from noise damage. My doctors have been suspicious of a connection between my vision and hearing loss; so much so that I was sent to the Mayo Clinic. But so far no connection has been established; not that it'd change my circumstances if one was found. My changes have enriched me. I hope yours will also.
